This Mercedes-Benz W196 #8, derived from the 300SLR, first appeared with this bodywork in 1955. The older, more conventional and well-known 300SLR had suffered too much damage. The aerodynamic advantage the German marque gained with this new design is impressive. Today's LMP1 and LMP2 prototypes aren't far removed from these breathtaking lines.
So naturally, the way light plays across such curves is magical. Definitely one of my favorite creations... judge for yourselves!
